Hi everyone,
Just checking in to say hello, and to let you know that yes! we are still mailing out cyanotype kits, chemistry and handmade contact frames all over the world. I know cyanotype helped our little household (and so many others) keep the creative photographic juices flowing through the Covid lockdowns, and I still find a little sunny weekend dalliance with the blue goo satisfies my inner frustrated artist.
I thought I would show you a recent experiment of mine with cyanotype on fabric. Midday summer sun really lets you work some magic! Above is a photogram made with objects laid directly on dry, sensitised cotton poplin.
In December I was asked to run a cyanotype workshop with the Year 11 students at Glenunga International High School. It was super fun to have a huge group of enthusiastic students (and staff) to spend a few days making blue things with. I have been running cyanotype workshops for years now, but there’s always at least one person in each workshop that completely blows my mind with their innovative approach to the process. We finished off the two day workshop by making some huge cyanotype banners/murals. The idea was for these to hang in the senior student area at Glenunga High. I didn’t get to see them installed, but I hope they’ve been good company for the Class of 2024 so far!
If you or your organisation would be interested in holding a cyanotype workshop in Adelaide or surrounds, please get in touch, we’d love to introduce you to the magic of the blue goo. It’s a no-stress and non-toxic way to spend a sunny day making some beautiful one-of-a-kind objects in the company of friends and colleagues.
